19 Years Later: Same Mission, Updated Message
In 1990, Dr. Renee Goldberg (see bio) opened her private practice after a series of successful educational experiences. She networked with everyone she knew; medical professionals, educators, mental health experts, and waited for the phone to ring. Renee offered college and school placement services and educational assessment.
Because of her specialization in working with students with learning issues, she developed a niche practice working with students with learning issues in addition to advising mainstream students. The phone began to ring and her practice was launched!
The mission of her practice was simple: “To provide highly professional and caring advice to students and their families at a reasonable fee.”
Renee received her best source of referrals from satisfied clients, and word of mouth referrals ruled the day. Renee added school psychologists, tutors, and leaning specialists to the practice while she provided all the placement services.
As the practice continued to stretch into the internet age, Renee in consultation with her husband Marvin, decided to embrace the internet.
The Goldbergs created a web site and Google box ads were initiated. The phone continued ringing, but this time, the calls came from all over the country and from many foreign countries. Word of mouth referrals were still critical to the success of the practice, but internet referrals became a growing source of clients. Web inquiries added another dimension.
In 2002, Marvin Goldberg (see bio) joined the practice full time with an emphasis on providing services to clients whose behavioral and emotional issues did not permit them to live at home. Educational Options, LLC also established an affiliation with the Hallowell Center www.drhallowell.com, one of the country’s premiere centers for the diagnosis and treatment of students with AD/HD. They also partnered with New England Academy www.newenglandacademy.net, an independent day school, to advise graduating seniors about postsecondary options.
This year Renee and Marvin decided to expand the way they deliver their message again, emphasizing the growing social networking arena. Welcome to our new web site and notice the blogs and videos.
Last month Renee was described by a parent as ‘the gold standard’ for providing services to students with LD, AD/HD, and on the spectrum. That is a heady compliment and one we cherish.
So in 2009, our mission remains the same, while the way we deliver our message has been radically altered to better meet the needs of our students and their families. While we move forward with the new, we remain true to “I’m calling because my friend worked with you.”
We plan to keep the phones busy and our web site buzzing, so call 617.864.8863 or 5078.304.9672 or contact us through info@optionsined.com
