Read How an Independent School Graduate Contributes to Education in Africa: Progress at Abaarso Tech Abaarso Tech,  a new school in Somaliland.

John Starr, the founder and Worcester Academy and Emory University graduate reports that 25 students enrolled in the September Intensive English Language program. Ten are rising 9th graders from Sheik, the high school attended by his uncle that is still the #1 high school in Somaliland country. The students came to Abaarso Tech (AT) to practice English by speaking with native English-speakers. 14 are likely to apply to be day students at AT. One student is a high school graduate, and 18 are boys.

The roofs are going up! The apprentice teachers are teaching English to any interested school workers.  Jon read “Click, Clack, Moo” (a great new children’s book) to the recently, which they seemed to enjoy.

Check out the Aabarso Tech web site to see the progress of the school.
